FCC actually makes a funny commercial...

Apparently the Federal Trade Commission is tired of freecreditreport.com fooling people into thinking that they actually provide FREE credit reports. In fact, the FTC's site annualcreditreport.com is the site that MOST people think they're accessing when they see the catchy commercials (see them all here). So, the FCC made their own commercial. Watch it below:

Here's some very lightly shaded text from the FAKE "free" credit report website.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION When you order your free report here, you will begin your free trial membership in Triple AdvantageSM**, you will be billed $14.95 for each month that you continue your membership. Credit Monitoring. If you don't cancel your membership within the 7-day trial period
ConsumerInfo.com, Inc. and Freecreditreport.com are not affiliated with the annual free credit report program. Under a new Federal law, you have the right to receive a free copy of your credit report once every 12 months from each of the three nationwide consumer reporting companies. To request your free annual report under that law, you must go to www.annualcreditreport.com."

So check your credit score every January 1st, June 1st and September 1st from a different credit agency for free through www.annualcreditreport.com to stay up to date on your credit's standing.
